Speeding Driver Totals Brand New Ferrari Worth US $725,000 in Northeastern Thailand
NAKHON RATCHASIMA – The driver of a brand-new Ferrari car was slightly injured on Wednesday afternoon in Northeastern Thailand when he swerved to avoid an accident in front of him, plunged off the wet road and slammed into a tree.
Police were informed that the accidents occurred on Mitraparp Highway in tambon Mitraparp at about 3.30pm.
The luxury sports car — worth about 24 million baht — ended up on its side in a ditch with a crushed front end and the two front wheels lying on the grass nearby.
Police said that the unidentified driver of the Ferrari registered in Bangkok was traveling at high speed when he saw an 18-wheeled lorry hit a Chevrolet Captiva sports utility vehicle, both registered in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Braking suddenly, the driver of the luxury sports car lost control, and the vehicle skidded off the highway and into the tree.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered injuries to his head and chest. The truck driver was unscathed.
Police brought the drivers to the Sikiu station for interrogation.
