BANGKOK – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha encouraged the general public to attend Buddhism Promotion Week on occasion of Asalha Puja Day and the beginning of the Buddhist Lent.

Culture Minister Veera Rojpojanarat met with the premier to discuss the promotion of Buddhism Promotion Week for Asalha Puja Day, the beginning of the Buddhist Lent, and celebrations for the birthday anniversary of His Majesty the King on 28 July 2018.

The events, which will take place during 22-28 July 2018, aimed to present the rich heritages of Buddhism in Thailand dating back some 1,400 years, and to express the appreciation to the Thai monarchy. Parades of important Buddhist relics from five historical eras of Thailand will be featured during that period.

A prayer will be conducted on 26 July 2018 at Government House at 7.00 a.m., while Asalha Puja Day and the beginning of the Buddhist Lent will be held in border areas to allow Buddhists in neighboring countries to attend alongside the Thais.
