(CTN News) – God of War: Ragnarok will be the latest PlayStation exclusive to make its way to PC, joining its predecessor on Steam alongside several other games that were previously exclusive to PS5.
During Thursday’s State of Play, it was announced that God of War: Ragnarok will release on PC on September 19, 2024. This title will be available alongside Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and other PlayStation games, all of which are Steam Deck verified.
God of War: Ragnarok is expected to feature the new PlayStation overlay, which includes shared trophies and more, introduced with Ghost of Tsushima. Sony has confirmed it will support unlimited framerate, UltraWide display support, and utilize Nvidia DLSS 3.7/AMD FSR 3.1/Intel XESS 1.3.
The trailer also confirmed that a PlayStation Network account will be required, which disappointed many fans.
God of War: Ragnarok continues the story of Kratos and his now teenage son, Atreus. The sequel was praised as an enthralling spectacle upon its release.
“Impeccable writing, pitch-perfect performances, knockout action – it’s a complete work of art from top to bottom.
Reflecting its core themes, it’s everything a sequel should be: respectful of its legendary lineage, but not afraid to take it to exciting new places,” the review stated.
“God of War Ragnarok is an almighty achievement and creates a new high that makes many of its peers look positively mortal by comparison.”
After its release, God of War: Ragnarok went on to win numerous awards and received free DLC that introduced a new roguelike mode. Its PC release has long been anticipated by fans.
Notably, its predecessor, God of War 2018, is highly rated on Steam, currently sitting at ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’. Our deep dive explains how Sony Santa Monica made its epic more accessible along with other improvements. We’ll see if its sequel continues this legacy.
