(CTN News) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published new visa regulations, making it easier than ever to visit Thailand and stay there for an extended period of time.
The list of countries eligible for visa-free entry has expanded from 57 to 93, including India and China. The entry stamp will now be valid for 60 days and can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office. Certain sorts of short-term work in Thailand are permitted for up to 15 days, but you must first obtain permission from a labour office or at the airport.
If you come from a nation that is not on the visa exemption list, there may be some good news. Visa-on-arrival is now accessible for an additional 31 countries, up from 19. However, it is a single-entry stamp valid for only 15 days and costs 2,000 baht.
For people on retirement visas, the minimum health insurance coverage is cut from 3 million baht to 400,000.
And, instead of being compelled to leave the nation immediately after finishing their degree, 40,000 foreign students at Thai colleges and universities would be permitted to stay for one year following graduation, allowing them to work in their area.
New five-year visa.
But what has truly piqued the interest of foreigners looking to live in Thailand for longer periods of time is a new Destination Thailand visa that will last five years and allow stays of up to 180 days, which can be extended up to a year in total.
However, it is not suitable for everyone, and the details are critical. In the latest edition of the Bangkok Post’s Deeper Dive vodcast, Naruchai Ninnad, a senior official in Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the man who helped develop the new guidelines, will answer your questions.
