(CTN News) – In a statement made on Sunday, President Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey may invade Israel, similar to what it has done in the past in the cases of Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh.
However, he did not elaborate on the nature of the intervention that he was recommending.
Erdogan says Turkey might enter Israel to help Palestinians
“To prevent Israel from carrying out these absurd actions against Palestine, we need to be extremely powerful. Erdogan made these remarks at a meeting of his governing AK Party in Rize, which is located in his hometown. “Just like we entered Karabakh, just like we entered Libya, we might do something similar to them,” Erdogan said.
The fact that we are unable to achieve this is not a valid argument. “We must be strong for us to be able to take these steps,” Erdogan stated in the speech that was broadcast on television.
However, officials of the AK Party did not answer calls that asked for further information on Erdogan’s remarks. The Israeli government did not immediately issue a statement.
The president seemed to be referring to steps that Turkey has taken in the past.
In the year 2020, Turkey sent military soldiers to Libya to assist the government of the National Accord of Libya, which is acknowledged by the United Nations.
It is Turkey that provides support to the Prime Minister of Libya, Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah, who is also the leader of the Government of National Unity in Tripoli.
Turkey has denied that it had any direct part in the military actions that Azerbaijan conducted in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, Turkey said in the previous year that it was employing “all means” to help its close friend, which included investing in military training and modernization.
