Narcotics Suppression Police, in collaboration with local raided a house in Muang Kham Subdistrict, Phan District, Chiang Rai, after receiving a tip-off that teenagers were using the house to use drugs and was a center for distributing drugs to them.
During the raid, a group of teenagers escaped by climbing over the wall, and one was arrested. When the surrounding area was searched, three more suspects were found: two men and one woman.
Police said they were still intoxicated, and methamphetamine pills were found on them.
During an Initial search of the home, police found over 5,000 meth pills, some Ya ice (crystal meth), five firearms (three handguns, two rifles), a large amount of ammunition, seven knives, three chainsaws, and drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the area.
Four pickup trucks and three motorcycles were also seized. During the search, a customer called to order 70 methamphetamine pills.
At the time of the arrest, the suspects revealed that they bought the methamphetamine pills for 5-6 baht each and sold them for 20 baht each.
Police in Chiang Rai report drug abuse is a big problem that affects a lot of people’s lives. The fact that the area is close to the Golden Triangle, a major drug-producing area, makes the situation worse.
