Police in Chiang Rai expanded their investigation to arrest the gang selling “Labubu” ecstasy, seizing assets worth over 1 million baht from four suspects under a warrant issued by the Chiang Rai Provincial Court, No. 292/2567 dated July 26, 2024.
On July 27, 2024 at Ban Du Police Station, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, Pol. Maj. Gen. Manop Senakul, Commander of Chiang Rai Provincial Police, along with Pol. Col. Ratthaphon Noi Changkit, Deputy Commander of Chiang Rai Provincial Police, and Pol. Col. Ananjak Kanoknaphawat, Superintendent of Ban Du Police Station Jointly interrogated 4 suspects after seizing”Labubu” ecstasy from a karaoke bar in Ban Du Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province on July 25.
The suspects were identified as Ms. Nattaya, 27, Mr. Natchai, 42, Mr. Amphan, 42, and Ms. Kuslin, 28 all residents on Chiang Rai Province. Ms. Nattaya, 27 was fingered as the supplier of the drugs that were seized during the raid on the Karaoke shop on Thursday.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Manop told CTN News that the investigation follow the arrest on Thursday led to the issuing of an arrest warrant for Ms. Nattaya from the Chiang Rai Provincial Court, No. 292/2567 dated July 26, 2024.
On July 27 police discovered that Ms. Nattaya was hiding at house in Village 2, Ban Du Subdistrict, Mueang District, so they were able to track her down and arrest her. A search of the house found Labubu” ecstasy pills, 600 methamphetamine pills, 169.2 grams of ketamine, and 11 packets of collagen (Happy Water).
The suspects revealed that they bought each ecstasy pills for 200 baht and sold it for 800 baht, while Happy Water was sold for 2,500 baht from the cost of 800 baht.
The police have charged all four suspects with “jointly possessing Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine, ecstasy) for illegal trade, and jointly possessing psychotropic substances (ketamine) for illegal trade.”
Police also seize assets belonging to the suspects, including one BMW motorcycle, one Honda City sedan, and one Honda motorcycle, and money in the their bank accounts totaling over 1 million baht was frozen.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Manop said the suspects confessed to buying the Labubu” ecstasy by mail from Bangkok and distributing them in Chiang Rai. They will now expand the investigation to arrest dealers and users in Chiang Rai.
