A heated disputer between neighbors over a cat and dog has left two people dead and another injured in a murder-suicide in central Thailand’s Pathum Thani Province yesterday.
Police were called to a housing estate in Pathum Thani about 7:30am where they found two bodies, one retired army Col Jaruchart Jarupan aged 64, and the other his neighbour Ms Saowagul Sasadoh, 53.
The body of the retired army colonel was found dead in front of the neighbor’s gate with a gunshot wound in his left temple, and a woman with multiple gunshot wounds to her head and body was found near the front door.
The neighbor’s 30-year-old son, identified as Mr. Krittinwas, was also found injured with a gunshot wound to his left hand. Rescue workers took him to a nearby hospital.
The retired colonel’s wife, Ms. Anothai, told police that her husband and Ms. Saowagul had been fighting for over a month over their cat’s entering the neighbor’s yard and allegedly antagonizing their dog.
She said that morning, her husband was talking loudly with the neighbor, and she called her husband a jerk, so he ran into the house, grabbed the gun, and then ran outside.
She said she heard several gunshots, so she ran after him to see her husband point the gun at the woman and pull the trigger multiple times, killing her instantly.
After inspecting the scene, images were recorded as evidence and rescue workers from the Por Tek Tung Foundation took the bodies to the forensic department at Thammasat University Hospital for further examination.
Police said they were questioning witnesses, and Ms Anothai and Mr Krittinwas would face further questioning at Khlong Luang Police Station.
