A transgender woman has been arrested for brutally killing and burning a university student at a dormitory in Nonthaburi Province. The assailant was found riding a motorcycle and leaving it at Bang Sue Central Station before fleeing to his home province.
Nonthaburi police reported that Mr. Witsawa, 22,(last name withheld) was murdered and burned in a room at a dormitory in Soi Prachachuen.
Initially, police officers found important evidence on the dormitory’s CCTV camera, which recorded images of the suspect, who looked like a transgender woman wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and jeans. The footage showed the transgender woman of riding a motorcycle intothe parking lot and walking into the dormitory.
Then, the deceased can be seen waiting to welcome her at the entrance. They walk back to the front of the elevator and then follow each other into the room. The perpetrator changed his shirt after committing the crime and ran out of the deceased’s room, returned to his motorcycle and rode away.
Pol. Col. Pratana Phaenpha, Commander of the Nonthaburi Provincial Police, said after reviewing CCTV footage along the escape route, they found the motorcycle the perpetrator rode and parked it at Bang Sue Central Station.
The motorcycle was brought to the Nonthaburi forensic police to examine its fingerprints and collect DNA. It was found that the motorcycle was stolen from a villager in Soi Chin Khet, near the scene of the incident. Police later identified the the perpetrator as Mr. Nattawut Onto or Nut, aged 21 from Nakhon Sawan Province.
He was arrested at his hometown in Phu Yuak Khiri District in Nakhon Sawan Province. Initially, the suspect was questioned, with his grandfather and grandmother sitting next to him. Mr. Nattawut, confessed that he was the one who killed Mr. Witsawa.
He said he was angered over money, and after killing Mr. Witsawat he set fire to the dormitory room to hide the murder. He sold the deceased’s mobile phone for 7,000 baht, then traveled to Phu Thap Boek, Phetchabun Province, before heading to his grandparents home in Nakhon Sawan.
Police said initial autopsy result of the deceased showed there were several stab wounds on the body from a sharp object, including one wound that cut through the heart. It is believed that the deceased did not die immediately because smoke was found in the victims lungs.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ton, aged 59, the owner of the motorcycle used by the transgender woman, traveled to file a complaint at Ratthanathibet Police Station to confirm his innocence that he was not involved in the murder and burning of a first-year student in Nonthaburi Province.
