Google Business Profile (formerly known as Google My Business or GMB) is an online profile maintained by Google that allows business owners to list their business online on GMB and help increase website sales.
But what is so special about it? The listings on GMB are listed by geolocation. This means that the closer you are to the business, the higher it will rank at the time of search. This is a great way for small and medium businesses who are looking to grow to get some quick exposure fast.
Google is also quite diligent in its process to allow you to list your business online. For that reason, it gives the customer an added sense of confidence that this is a legitimate business of high value.
In this article I will give you 5 tips to increase your website sales. But if you wish to speak with a professional directly, please contact our digital marketing and web design agency to set up a virtual meeting. We can walk you through the process and determine the best path for your business.
Run A/B Testing
Next time you think about creating a landing page on your website to drive sales, try also creating a B version of that same page. The goal here is for you to publish both versions to your audience, and keep track of which one performs better.
A simple test may indicate that page B might outperform page A by 15-20%. This could be a difference of thousands of dollars in revenue for your business.
If you want to dive further on this idea, you can also implement the same strategy on existing pages of your website. My personal recommendation would be to look for pages that are already performing well, and see what did you do differently? Try to implement a similar style, be consistent, and make sure to always track as much information as you can.
If you’re just starting out, lookup local businesses that provide a similar service. Try to mimic their style without being too overly obvious, and see how you can improve on their design.
Call to Action (CTA)
The purpose of call to actions is to get the reader to take an action on the website. It could be making a purchase, signing up for an email, or completing a form, etc. The idea here is that after we give the reader a brief explanation of what it is we are providing, we want them to take the next step and get in touch with us.
Targeted CTAs can lead to an increase of 42% in sales if done correctly.
This however, requires a little bit of finesse on your part in order to understand where exactly to place said actions. Remember those A/B pages we discussed above? The result of those pages can help you determine where to place your CTAs.
Here are a few quick tips to help start your business’ website:

The 2 buttons above each indicate a call to action.
You can see them on our Hamilton Page. We decided to place our CTAs one at the center, an easy spot for readers to view (and right after our main title), and another at the top right corner in the navbar. Those are 2 prime spots you can leverage in your website.
Try to make something that is easy to notice but not too overwhelming for the user. If you can make a navigation menu at the top that follows the user on scroll-down, that would be ideal so that at any point in the page they can make the decision to contact you, and then it becomes much easier for you to sell your product.
(In case you don’t know how to create a navbar menu, feel free to contact us at the bottom of this page and we can help.)
Responsive Design
Today over 55% of website traffic comes from mobile devices. If your website doesn’t look good on mobile, you might be missing a huge part of your potential sales. It is an important part of operating a website to ensure that it works on all devices, so that you can reach out to as many customers as you can.
Websites that don’t perform well have an increased 40% chance of losing customers who will instead seek out a competitor with a more professional website. Make sure that your web pages’ work on both mobile and desktop.

Our advice here is to take out your phone and browse your website, see how it looks. Anything odd? If so, then consider rebuilding the pages that don’t look good. You will definitely start seeing positive results and the traffic numbers going up.
Discounts, Promotions, Packages
Offering discounts is a great way to boost sales as it helps those who are on the fence about buying your products. This is also a good opportunity to create a sense of urgency for the customer, therefore something like a discount with an expiration date can work well in this scenario. You are informing the customer that if they make a purchase now, they can get a big deal that they might not be able to get later. And in business it is always best to close a deal now rather than later.
If you didn’t know, data suggests that discounts in the 10% – 20% range have an increased sales success rate of 28% per unit. Those are some big numbers that you can leverage and help boost your sales!

If you combine this with promotions and packages, you can try upselling your client on a better deal for them. Say if a customer wanted to buy logo design services from you, and you take this opportunity to mention to them that there’s a promotion and they can get a logo and full web design support for a “Premium Package”.
If the customer is interested, you just managed to upsell and score an even bigger prize!
