BANGKOK – A high-ranking police officer was the target of a phone fraud. As a result, he seized the chance to launch an inquiry, resulting in the arrest of three Chinese suspects.

On July 30, Metropolitan Police officers apprehended Mr. Xue Jiajun, 34; Mr. Mao Tianqi, 33; and Ms. Lin Melling, 35. All are Chinese nationals. A SIMBOX or GSM GATEWAY gadget with 32 SIM card slots was seized, along with 37 other goods.

The inquiry began on July 14 at 11:37 a.m., when Police Major General Theerachai Chamnanmor, Commander of the inquiry Division, Region 2, received a phone call offering unique income and attempted to dupe him into making additional investments.

He then directed an investigation into the phone number, working with Police Colonel Surapong Phutkhao, Superintendent of Prawet Police Station, because the signal was traced to this part of Bangkok.

The research discovered that the phone number was being utilised via a SIMBOX or GSM GATEWAY, which can transform phone signals utilising SIM cards and be managed from outside. The device was found in a condominium in Bangkok’s Prawet neighbourhood.

On July 29, about 11:15 p.m., three people arrived at the apartment in a red Mazda. One man entered Building A. Police waited for him to depart the lift with a travel bag, while two accomplices waited in the car.

Officers then introduced themselves, examined the room, and discovered all of the questionable evidence indicated previously.

Initially, the three people were charged with jointly making, possessing, using, importing, exporting, or trading radio communication devices without a licence; jointly establishing a radio communication station without a licence; and jointly using frequency in a telecommunication business without permission, which is typical of a Type 3 telecommunication business.

The suspects and evidence were then turned over to the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) for additional legal action.
