(CTN News) – The Meteorological Department states that rainfall is increasing throughout Thailand and warns of heavy rain in some regions of the east, which might cause flash floods and landslides.
The monsoon trough is travelling across Thailand’s upper north and Laos, and it is spreading to a low-pressure area over Vietnam’s upper half. Furthermore, a moderate southwest monsoon continues to cover the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. These circumstances are bringing greater rainfall in Thailand, with some locations receiving extremely heavy rain.
Increased Rainfall Across Thailand
The general people in these areas should be aware of heavy to very heavy rainfall and accumulated rain, which could create flash floods and landslides, particularly in foothill areas near streams and low-lying regions. Travelling through thunderstorm-prone zones requires extra vigilance.
Waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand are forecast to be about 2 meters high. Waves in the Andaman Sea and lower Gulf of Thailand are forecast to reach 1-2 meters in height, with waves topping 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in these places should exercise caution and avoid navigating in thunderstorm-prone zones.

It is recommended that authorities issue warnings or post signal flags in coastal areas affected by strong wind alerts to warn the public and visitors not to swim in the sea during heavy winds.
We have notified the Marine Department, Navy, and Marine Police of the need for heightened caution on the water. According to KhaoSod, officials may restrict vessels from leaving the coast depending on the gravity of the crisis.
The government has asked inhabitants of high-risk locations to keep updated about weather conditions and official updates. The THAI DISASTER ALERT application allows the public to receive hazard alerts.
