The Chiang Rai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Centre reported yesterday that the province is still experiencing severe rain, flash flooding, and landslides. There are currently 12 districts, 35 sub-districts, and 3,328 households affected.
Chiang Rai has seen twelve days of constant rain, turning streets into rivers and causing widespread pandemonium. Flooding has forced businesses to close, and residents are dealing with destroyed homes and crops.
Despite their best efforts, emergency crews face huge challenges due to the unpredictable weather, while many residents are worried about losing their homes to flooding.
Chiang Rai Governor and Director of the Chiang Rai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command has ordered relevant agencies to urgently provide assistance, including personnel, tools, equipment, machinery, and military equipment.
Yesterday (27 August 2024), flash floods and flash floods occurred in many areas, especially in Wiang Chai District, Chiang Saen District, Pa Daet District, Thoeng District, Khun Tan District, Chiang Khong District, Phaya Mengrai District, Mueang Chiang Rai District, Mae Suai District, Mae Lao District, and Phan District, which experienced the most severe flooding in almost 30 years.
The latest news this morning (28 Aug 2014) at 3:30 a.m., there was an urgent news report from Ban Pa Teng, Village No. 5, Ban Saeo Subdistrict, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province, that flash floods had overflowed into people’s homes and water was rising rapidly.

Wiang Pa Pao District:
A flash flood on the Chiang Mai-Chiang Rai road was cut off. While the road up to Doi Tung Palace, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province, has a landslide, the road has been cut off.
Wiang Chai District:
Flooding, Tambon Muang Chum, 5 villages, flooding of houses and agricultural areas affected/currently, water levels are decreasing/monitoring water from Nong Luang coming down to fill up and Tambon Phang Nga, 1 village, flooding of houses, 10 households/currently, closely monitoring water levels
Chiang Saen District:
Flooding, Tambon Pa Sak, 2 villages, flooding of houses, 11 households affected/currently, still flooding/water levels are stable Tambon Si Don Mun, 4 villages, Nam Kham flooding of houses, 25 households affected and some agricultural areas/currently Water level is stable/Watch water from upstream areas
And Tambon Ban Saeo, 3 villages, approximately 10 households are affected, 340 rai of agricultural land, 13 fish ponds, 2 roads are affected (at point 1, the road has been compacted and is now passable/at point 2, NPK.35 is installing a Bailey bridge)/Currently, water level is stable, watch out for rising Mekong River levels
Amphoe Pa Daet:
Flooding, Tambon Pa Ngae, 4 villages, flooding of houses/Currently, water level is stable, Tambon Sanmakha, 3 villages, date, water level is still rising, Ban San Buakham, Village 3, starting to enter the community, 10 households are damaged/Currently, water level is stable
Tambon Si Pho Ngern, 1 village, flooding of houses/Currently Water level is stable in Tambon Pa Daet, 7 villages, flooding in residential areas, Village No. 3, 5 households, Village No. 4, 1 household, and flooding of agricultural areas increased by approximately 2,500 rai, flooding 20 fish ponds, flooding 10 roads/currently, water level is stable and Tambon Rong Chang, 1 village, flooding of houses/currently, water level is stable
Amphoe Thoeng:
Flooding in Tambon Wiang, 25 villages, flooding of houses and agricultural areas in a wide area/currently, water level is still stable, continuous monitoring, Tambon Plong, 5 villages, flooding of houses and agricultural areas/currently Still flooded in some areas
Tambon Nong Raet 7 villages, flooded houses and agricultural areas in a wide area/Currently, water level has decreased; Tambon San Sai Ngam 7 villages, flooded houses and agricultural areas in a wide area/Currently, water level has decreased; Tambon Ngio 1 village, flooded agricultural areas/Currently, water level has decreased

Chiang Khong District:
Flooding in Sri Don Chai Subdistrict, 5 villages, flooding of houses and agricultural areas affected/currently, water level is decreasing in Sathan Subdistrict, 3 villages, flooding of houses/currently, water level is decreasing in Huai So Subdistrict, 12 villages, flooding of houses and agricultural areas affected/currently, water level is decreasing and there is a landslide at Chikong Building and Rim Khong Subdistrict, 1 village, landslide on Chiang Saen-Chiang Khong Road, the Highways Department has built a barrier to allow travel
Phaya Mengrai District:
Flooding in Mengrai Subdistrict, 4 villages, flooding of houses/currently, water level is decreasing and Mae Tam Subdistrict, 4 villages, flooding of houses/currently, water level is decreasing
Mueang Chiang Rai District:
Flooding in Chiang Rai Municipality, 5 communities, water overflowed the banks and flooded houses/currently The water level has decreased but we still need to monitor continuously. Mae Khao Tom Subdistrict, Village No. 4, flooding in agricultural areas/currently, the water level has decreased.
Mae Suai Subdistrict Wawi Subdistrict, 1 village, soil subsidence causing cracks in the road surface, the route of Doi Chang High Altitude Agricultural Research Center before reaching Krua Akha Restaurant, Chiang Rai Rural Highways Office is currently surveying for further repairs.
Mae Lao Subdistrict:
Chom Mok Kaew Subdistrict, 4 villages, water overflowed the banks and flooded agricultural areas/currently, the water level is stable/monitoring the situation and monitoring the Lao River and Huai San River.
Phan Subdistrict:
Sanmaket Subdistrict, 1 village, flooding in agricultural areas/currently, the water level is stable. And Tantawan Subdistrict, 5 villages, flooding in agricultural areas/currently Water level is stable
Wiang Chiang Rung District:
Dong Mahawan Subdistrict, 12 villages, flooded agricultural areas/Currently, water level has decreased, the Kok River flood barrier is broken 20 meters long, still unable to repair and in Pa Sang Subdistrict, 5 villages, flooded agricultural areas/Currently, water level has decreased and in Tung Ko Subdistrict, 13 villages, flooded agricultural areas/Currently, water level is stable.
