(CTN News) – According to Business Insider, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has filed a complaint with the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to limit Elon Musk’s Space X launches in Florida, reigniting the billionaire feud.
Blue Origin has petitioned the FAA to limit SpaceX’s Ss-SH, citing several concerns, particularly for the local environment, and claiming that “Ss-SH operations are expected to have a greater environmental impact than any other launch system currently operating” nearby.
In response, Tesla’s CEO wrote on his social media platform X: “Sue Origin.”
According to reports, a previous Space X launch generated heat and pressure similar to a volcanic eruption, causing soil and sand to rain down on a nearby town.
Space X is currently developing its Starship-Super Heavy launch system, which will be Earth’s largest and most powerful.
According to the filing, the Super Heavy booster can carry up to an “unprecedented” 5,200 metric tonnes of liquid methane for propulsion, which Blue Origin claims may result in “qualified distances for safety margins that potentially overlap the operational sites of other companies, the government, and the public.”
Space X plans to launch the Starship once a year.
In addition to the limit request, Blue Origin proposed several other options, including requiring Space X to compensate for any losses caused by its operations and build more infrastructure around launch facilities.
