(CTN News) – There is a strong sense of national pride in the Thai language, according to the findings of recent research that was carried out by Suan Dusit University and approved by the Ministry of Culture in Thailand.

The results of the study, which was conducted in conjunction with National Thai Language Day 2024, indicate that 71.22 percent of the 22,109 respondents consider the Thai language to be an important national symbol.

According to the findings of the research, educational institutions have a significant effect on the appropriate utilization of the Thai language, with schools and universities being the key influences.

Additionally, it was discovered that social media platforms are often used for misusing language, particularly in terms of spelling and pronunciation patterns.

It was said by the Minister of Culture, Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, that the Thai public places a high value on the language not only for communication but also for the development of intelligence and creativity.

Based on the results of the poll, it was determined that educators, news broadcasters, and show hosts all play a significant part in influencing the contemporary use of the language.

Furthermore, the findings demonstrated that the general public has a strong desire for the government to prioritize the enhancement of Thai language abilities utilising programmes such as language-centered exhibits, contests, and educational media creation opportunities.

Through a variety of initiatives, including the publication of poetry, the staging of song competitions, and the production of movies to promote the right use of the Thai-language, the Ministry of Culture has been consistently campaigning for the relevance of the use of the Thai-language.

On the 29th of July, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism commemorates National Thai Language Day. This day is dedicated to recognizing those individuals who have excelled in the use and preservation of the Thai language, while also encouraging other Thais to cherish and preserve their linguistic heritage.
