Finnish Man Jumps to His Death at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport
The Finnish man was identified as Mr. Timbo Jurisoo , was still breathing when medical staff gave him first aid. He was rushed to Samitivej Srinakharin Hospital before he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
A Finnish man is dead after falling from the sixth floor of the passenger terminal at Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok. The indecent happened at approximately 9:30 PM.
When Tourist Police arrived they found the Finnish man lying face-up with multiple fractures on the fourth floor.
The Finnish man was identified as Mr. Timbo Jurisoo , was still breathing when medical staff gave him first aid. He was rushed to Samitivej Srinakharin Hospital before he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Before the fatal fall, the man was seen using a mobile phone in front of a ticket booth on the sixth floor. He reportedly jumped from the sixth floor and landed to the fourth floor.
Tourist Police said the Finnish national had entered the country on a 30-day visa before extending his stay until Nov 6th. Investigators have informed the Finnish embassy about the incident.
In February of this year a Russian man also jumped to his death at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport. He climbed over a glass wall on the fourth floor and jumped. He suffered critical injuries and later died at the hospital.
A safety director of Suvarnabhumi airport, said that as similar incidents had occurred before.
Since Suvarnabhumi airport opened in 2006, 10 people have fallen to their deaths from the upper-floor walkways. The airport spend 33 million baht in 2013 building glass barriers to stop people falling or taking their lives.
